China Photos Show Diversity Of China.

These photos of China attempt to show the diversity of China, as seen through western eyes. With the help of Chinese friends, several pictures of Chinese people, China towns and cities were taken over a number of years. On every visit to China, there was something new to experience. Between every visit to China, many changes had taken place as the country leapt into the modern world. How many visits to China, over how many lifetimes, would it take to complete a China tour covering all the places of interest?

Dazu Buddha Made By Man; Guilin Mountains By Nature.

The man-made images of Buddha, carved into rock caves and niches at Dazu, and the picturesque Karst Mountains of Guilin, are two examples of the diversity of China shown in these photos.

The China photo of Dazu is that of the sleeping Buddha entering the state of Nirvana, but only the upper part of the body was visible. The sculpture of the Sleeping Buddha at Dazu, bathed in the warm morning sunlight, dwarfed all the other attending statues.

The China photo of the Guilin mountains was taken from the highest peak, where there was also a transmitter station. The panoramic views from the peak were quite spectacular with the mountains almost disappearing in the hazy distance. On a wall in front of the transmitter station was a large glazed tile painting of the Guilin Mountains in all their splendor; a subject popular with Chinese artists and poets who are better able to interpret the magic spell the Guilin mountains cast on anyone who sees them.
